West Berkshire shines for Olympic Torch

BY BUZZ

The Olympic Torch

Thousands of people lined the streets of Theale, Thatcham and Newbury to witness the once in a lifetime opportunity of the Olympic Torch Relay today, Wednesday 11 July.

In Newbury, crowds began to build from 9am but luckily the sun stayed out long enough to see the torch pass through. The torch was carried by the selected torch bearers, including local celebrity Clare Balding who tweeted “That was absolutely AMAZING. I was in bits getting off the bus, cried when I saw my family & grinned throughout the run. Thank you Newbury!”
