Newbury Camera Club is celebrating 70 years of photography with an exciting show at West Berkshire Museum. The exhibition will feature new work by the club’s members alongside old photographs by past members and camera equipment from the museum’s collections.
Members of the club will be available in the museum to provide advice about taking great photos and to chat about their work every other Saturday from 20 June to 12 September.
“We are delighted to be working with the Newbury Camera Club in their anniversary year. The museum is home to many pieces of work by past and current members and we look forward to seeing what the next generation of members produce. We congratulate the Club on their 70th anniversary and look forward to 70 more years of photography in Newbury”, said Keith Chopping, West Berkshire Council’s Executive Member for Culture.

This exhibition celebrates our 70th Anniversary by showing the range of work from our members, who were asked to submit their three favourite prints.
Photographs are from beginners through to our most experienced members, and taken with cameras ranging from mobile phones/simple compacts to top of the range DSLRs.
The exhibition also includes a fascinating look at the history of the Newbury Camera Club using material from West Berkshire Museum’s photographic and camera collections
The exhibition is open from Wednesday 17th June until Sunday 13th September during normal Museum opening hours.
The prints will be changed on 14th July and 7th August so that ~90 prints will be displayed in total.
Saturday morning clinics will be run starting on Saturday June 20th from 10.00 until 12.00 and then every other Saturday during the exhibition.
These are drop-in events for visitors to meet Camera Club members and discuss interests, queries and problems.
