This is the launch event of our 2014 flagship programme “Energy Forum”.
Energy Forums have been planned to inform and prepare all business of all sectors.
There will be exceptional opportunities to network, learn and share best practice.
Speaker: Paul Trimmer – Former CEO, Shell Energy Europe
Overview
BUSINESS INSIGHTS – GAME CHANGING MATTERS……….. – The State of the Energy Nation: The World, Europe and the UK.
The Forum will continue as a series throughout 2014 to look behind the numbers to improve our understanding of the key factors which will shape global energy over the next 10-20 years. We intend this launch session as an introduction to energy supply, demand, opportunities and threats, with the further sessions in 2014 drilling down into the various sub-topics such as solar, wind, bio-mass, efficiency, nuclear.
This presentation will also highlight the energy forces acting upon Europe in general and the UK in particular to help the audience identify and understand the key challenges which we will face in securing the energy we need and the possible consequences in terms of the competitiveness of UK based business before discussing how each of us can mitigate any negative impacts. The main presentation will then outline some of the potential business opportunities which will arise as a result of the changes in energy supply and use. By the end of the event it should be clear that the changing energy world is a strategic issue for all of us and one which justifies board level attention and positive action.
Some points to discuss/consider:
1. Could you generate your own energy?
2. The hype – fact or fiction?
3. Energy crisis or opportunity?
4. Fossil fuels / renewables?
5. What about fracking?
6. What about nuclear?
Paul Trimmer, Chairperson of the forum will lead us through energy supply and availability and describe why it should be high on the agenda for all business leaders.
Insights from others in the field will contribute in this interactive and in-depth discussion.
