Heartstart Thatcham celebrate their 200th person

200th-Person

Heartstart Thatcham has just celebrated training their 200th person. The training session on Saturday 18th April saw 11 people learning Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills. On the course was Liepa Lennie who attends Marlston House School.  Liepa, who attended the session with her mother, Lina, and sister, Milda, happened to be the 200th person we have trained; she was trained by Heartstart Thatcham instructor Margaret Young who said “Liepa went straight in showing how to perform CPR and other skills without hesitation.”

Scheme Coordinator Nick Young added “she even demonstrated how to use the defibrillator in front of everyone and asked questions that showed an excellent understanding of the topic.”  To mark the occasion she was presented with a first aid book not only to help her revise topics learnt but to help her develop her skills.  Leipa’s mum later said “Liepa was  happy to be able to attend because she wants to know how to help people. But the prize made it even more special ! She was over the Moon !  Liepa will always remember this special moment.”
