West Berkshire Council, working with local bus operator Newbury & District, is now extending the availability of FlexiConnect ten-trip tickets to bus routes serving villages across West Berkshire.
The FlexiConnect tickets are valid for up to any ten single journeys including the journey on which the ticket is bought, giving bus customers more flexibility on when they want to travel.
From Monday 23 March, residents in rural areas are able to buy FlexiConnect tickets from the drive on board the Connect-branded local buses operated by Newbury & District on behalf of the council. They cost £12.00 for a young person and £20.00 for an adult.
FlexiConnect tickets are already available for customers travelling on the Connect-branded buses within the towns of Newbury and Thatcham.
Going forwards, the Council hopes to migrate FlexiConnect and the other ‘Connect’-branded ticket products, which include Day, 7-day and 30-day tickets to smart format, reducing boarding times and helping make buses an even easier option for many local journeys.
Peter Walker, Transport Services Manager at West Berkshire Council said: “We’re pleased to have been able to work with Newbury & District bus company to introduce the FlexiConnect tickets. Together with the Ticketer ticketing system introduced last year, this provides a springboard for further smart travel developments, in line with West Berkshire’s Local Transport Plan.”
