It’s World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2015 – a great opportunity to celebrate books and reading. There’s lots happening here in the UK, with events taking place at schools, libraries and other public places across the country. Find out how you and your children can get involved below…
What’s happening at your school or nursery?
Primary schools usually tie in with World Book Day in some way, and most distribute the £1 book tokens. There may be other special events happening, such as book fairs, or a visits from famous authors or local writers – they may read to the children or hold a special book signing event.
Many schools encourage pupils to mark the event by dressing up as a favourite book character, usually afirm favourite with kids! We have stacks of easy (and purse-friendly) ideas on our dressing up page – many are donated by other mums and fortunately aren’t too labour-intensive!
Registered schools will receive a World Book Day pack in advance of the day so they’ll have plenty of interesting activities and competitions lined up for your child.
