“World’s greatest living explorer” – Sir Ranulph Fiennes
Sir Ranulph Fiennes, described by The Guinness Book of Records as the “world’s greatest living explorer” has broken an array of world records and led many expeditions to remote regions. He truly is an icon for adventurous travel.

Having been the first person to reach both the North and South poles by foot, Sir Ranulph has not just limited himself to one type of adventure – he also led the first unsupported crossing of the Antarctic Continent which was in turn the longest unsupported polar journey in history, ran 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents (soon after suffering a major heart attack and a double bypass), climbed the North Face of Eiger and even conquered Everest in 2009 (aged 65) – and these are only a selection of his incredible feats!

Explorer and TV Personality – Monty Halls
Monty Halls, a former Royal Marines Officer, formed his own expedition company, leading diverse teams through some of the most demanding environments on earth. His projects have taken him on four circumnavigations of the globe over a five year period. Some of his expeditions have included the discovery of a sunken city off the coast of India, exchanging gunfire with poachers on the Nyika Plateau in Africa and many others. This year alone he has not only run 6 UK dive expeditions, diving in remote locations that rarely, if ever, have been dived before with small groups of clients, as well as filming a new series for Discovery covering Guyana, Borneo and Venezuela. Monty has also presented five series for the BBC and is a successful writer and adventurer.

 
Motorcycle Film Producer – Russ Malkin
Russ is a producer and director of some of the most exciting and popular motorcycle adventure travel documentaries on TV, including Long Way Round and Long Way Down featuring Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor. He has filmed in Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Sudan and Ethiopia. Russ’ ethos is always to produce shows that explore the earth while helping it at the same time. He looks to inspire, excite and inform people with thought-provoking and returnable adventure formats, and has achieved incredible success by following his passions. 

Adventurer and Author – Lois Pryce
After reading Chris Scott’s legendary ‘Adventure Motorcycling Handbook’ at the age of 29, Lois quit her day job, bought a small trail bike and embarked on her first adventure, riding from Alaska to Ushuaia. On her return Lois reached for her map and started planning her next adventure. Since 2003 she has motorcycled from London to Cape Town, across the US, Europe and around Iran – all unsponsored and mainly solo. As a successful female adventurer Lois has had many incredible adventures behind her and continues to plan more.

 Overlanding Expert – Chris Scott Renowned overlanding Chris Scott and author of Adventure Motorcycling Handbook, has undertaken over 35 expeditions through the Sahara, from Egypt to the Atlantic by motorcycle, 4WD, M.A.N truck, Mercedes saloon car, bush taxi and lately with camel caravans. They’ve enabled him to gain an unparalleled knowledge of the practicalities of desert travel across the entire Sahara, both as a tourist, a driver, rider, trekker and as a tour leader.

 
Extreme Adventurer – Benedict Allen
Benedict Allen, one of Britain’s most prominent explorers, is particularly known for solo journeys through the jungle, desert and Arctic – journeys famously achieved not with a satellite phone, GPS or any of the usual “backup” but by undertaking a testing journey after a period of training alone with a remote indigenous community. These and other ventures are depicted in his ten books – including two best sellers – and six BBC television series.  Benedict also pioneered the filming of remote journeys for television, effectively creating a new genre – that of the TV adventurer. He differs from most of those who’ve followed in his footsteps by not using a film-crew, allowing millions of people around the world to witness for the first time adventures unfolding genuinely in inhospitable terrain. Few people alive have spent so long isolated and alone in so many different potentially hostile environments.

 
Adventurer and Cameraman – Leon McCarron
Leon McCarron is a Northern Irish adventurer, filmmaker, writer and motivational speaker. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and specializes in long distance, human-powered expeditions. In winter 2011-2012 Leon walked 3000 miles across China, filming for a National Geographic TV show along the way. The journey took him six months; walking a marathon a day for six days a week and carrying a 30kg pack. Two days after returning home, Leon was honoured to carry the Olympic Flame along a section of the Northern Irish coast as part of the London 2012 relay. Previous to this he rode a bicycle 14,000 miles from New York to Hong Kong, documented in a television show which aired in over 60 countries worldwide. At the end of 2012 he trekked 1000 miles through the Empty Quarter desert in Oman, following in the footsteps of the late British explorer Sir Wilfred Thesiger. A feature length film entitled ‘Into The Empty Quarter’ was subsequently premiered at the Royal Geographical Society in London in Autumn 2013. Leon has also ventured on a human-powered descent of the longest river in Iran, the Karun.
