Newbury Young Filmmakers is back!

advert

The all-new Newbury Young Filmmakers is a chance for young people to create a film project each term, where they will have the chance to act, write, devise, operate cameras and sound equipment, direct, produce and edit.

MWS Media are a creative film and video production company based in their Greenham Airfield Studio on Greenham Business Park. After teaching local businesses in the Thames Valley how to create quality in house video at their recent marketing event, it has reignited their passion for teaching and has led them to start up Newbury Young Filmmakers again.

Working with the skilled practitioners at MWS Media and the equipment and facilities they have to offer, Newbury Young Filmmakers provides the chance for young people to experiment with film, learn new skills, and have fun in a safe, creative environment. Sessions will take place at their Greenham Airfield Studio at Greenham Business Park, just outside Newbury, every Monday during term time. New sessions begin on Monday 28th April. Groups are divided by age; the 11-15 year age group (please note, children aged 11 must be in Secondary School) will meet from 6.00-7.30pm and the 16 and over age group will meet from 7.45-9.15pm. Cost per term is just £120!

Ben Myers; award winning filmmaker, former Director of the Watermill Senior Youth Theatre and MWS Media Co Found and Managing Director, developed the concept for Newbury Young Filmmakers. “It’s a chance for young people to have fun and be creative with film, learning from skilled practitioners and creating something new every term.”

Newbury Young Filmmakers ran in the past with many of the members going on to work in the film and media industry. Alex Dewhirst was a member of Newbury Young Filmmakers and went on to do his work placement year with MWS Media, work there after completing his University course and was Director Of Photography on his first feature film with them.
