Final of Students’ Cookery Competition to be held at Honesty-Berkshire’s Newest Cookery School
The ‘S’ word, a cookery competition for West Berkshire students organised by Education Business Partnership West Berkshire, will hold its exciting celebration evening at the Honesty Cookery School on the 26th March 2014 from 5.30pm onwards. As part of the sponsorship package, Honesty’s facilities will be supplied free of charge and during the event children will prepare and serve meals alongside Honesty’s co-founder, award-winning cookery book writer, Romilla Arber.
The competition has been open to all schools and colleges in West Berkshire, with participating students invited from key stages three, four and five. Each in-school/college heat has been judged by business people and chefs from local food establishments. The objective of the ‘S’ Word is to teach children a variety of skills, not least of which is to raise the children’s interest in the importance of healthy food.
Romilla Arber, comments, “The ‘S’ Word competition is an excellent way to get children involved in cooking, so we were happy to sponsor the competition. Anything that gets children involved in cooking and thinking about ingredients and where food comes from sits comfortably alongside the values espoused at Honesty.”
