Summer is coming is your Pool ready?

pICTURE

If you were lucky enough to have owned a swimming pool during 2013, you will no doubt have gained a great deal of pleasure from it as the weather was glorious. I know several people who have swimming pools in a state of neglect and missed it, all for the want of a new replacement liner or a renovation job, perhaps you fall into this category?

Depending on whether your liner is 20thou (.50) or 30thou (.75) it could last anything from 7 to 15 years if it’s looked after. They’re manufactured from vinyl and do naturally wear out and also the effect of pool chemicals over the seasons will have an adverse bearing on the condition, new liners are now inpregnated with algaecide to help keep your pool clean for longer. Liners are secured into position by a beading latched into a liner lock usually just under the coping stones. Changing a swimming pool liner, although a very specialist task, isn’t as horrendously expensive as you may fear, I’ve changed a huge number over the years and the cost depends on the size of the swimming pool and the floor contour, it could be constant depth, hopper, wedge or maybe even a bespoke shape.

Commercial, very large domestic pools or non-standard shaped pools usually require a special type of liner which is welded into the pool on-site. There are so many different patterns and tilebands nowadays to make your swimming pool special to you, long gone are the days of just painting a concrete walled pool plain blue or white. If slightly damaged, liners can be repaired with an adhesive patch if there is a small puncture but once the liner starts to deteriorate badly, replacement is the only answer. www.burtleisure.co.uk specialise in liner replacement with decades of experience so you could have your swimming pool ready for the scorching hot summer of 2014, here’s hoping !!
