New business boost for town centre

Northbrook Street, Newbury

Plus size women’s clothing shop Taking Shape will open in Newbury town centre next month.

This is first time that Taking Shape has come to Britain and with only ten stores opening in the UK, Newbury town centre is thankful that they have been chosen.

The brand new store is currently advertising for a range of jobs such as store manager, part time supervisor and many part time sales staff.

The brand, which first started in New Zealand in 1983, will be opening in the premise originally owned by Tiger, Tiger on Bartholomew Street. However; even with this shop, there are still many empty spots where businesses have either moved on or gone bankrupt.

Nevertheless, another boost came to the town centre this summer in the form of Morrisons M. Operations manager for the company, Andrew Shaw, said: “We felt Newbury was the perfect fit for one of our Morrisons M local stores and were pleased to be able to open on a site that would otherwise be empty. Our longer opening times mean that customers can do their shop at times to suit them and we hope that we’re helping to increase the bustle on the high street as a result.”

Occupying the former HMV premises, shoppers can visit Morrisons M from 7am till 11pm each day.
