The Think Big! Grand Final will take place Tuesday 16 July, where students from three West Berkshire schools will have the opportunity to present their wacky inventions to a panel of judges.
Think Big! is an enterprise initiative designed to equip young people for the future world of work by developing their skills. Over the last four months, three schools and over 560 students have taken part in the programme, not to mention 25 volunteers from businesses who have given up their time to advise the students.
It is this direct involvement with employers that gives the programme immense value for the future of the young people involved.
The students were given the challenge to invent a wacky product or service for the future. They then had to write a business plan which included market research, sales and marketing and finance activities.
The panel of judges will include Clare Pringle, Kier Construction and Greg Rudman, Creative Director of Atlantis Media. They will also have the opportunity to meet with the teams from Kennet School, The Willink School and The Downs School for a question and answer session about their products. Then they will be joined by parents and business volunteers later in the day to watch the students’ presentations.
