West Woodhay Garden Show

The dates for this year’s West Woodhay Garden Show have been announced along with new attractions for 2013.

The bi-annual event will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June at West Woodhay House, Newbury with the opportunity to explore magnificent gardens, show gardens and specialist plant and gift stalls. This year’s show is in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund, Newbury Spring Festival, Newbury Agricultural Society, local churches and many smaller local charities. Since it first opened in 2006, the show has raised £225,000 for local churches and charities.

The fifth show will include gardening and food talks, a silent auction, entertainment from local bands and musicians, a children’s fairground and children’s gardening competitions. There will also be a Silent Auction run by Newbury Rotary Club.

Show director Nigel Dyson says “This summer’s Charity Garden Show being held at West Woodhay House will include children’s entertainment presented by the famous ‘Sharky and George’ on Sunday and there will be a children’s fairground all weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, we are also hosting the Finals of ‘ The Newbury Older Musician of the Year’, sponsored by Greenham Common Trust. For keen gardeners there are lots of specialist plant stalls, as well as the wonderful gardens of West Woodhay House to admire.”

The show is one of the rare occasions where the private gardens of West Woodhay House in West Berkshire, the home of Harry & Sarah Henderson, are open to the public.

Tickets are £6 per person when purchased in advance (children under 15 go free) from www.westwoodhaygardenshow.co.uk or £7 each on the gate.
