A wildlife photography competition was announced today calling for all amateur photographers to take part in celebrating the diversity of wildlife in the UK. The competition is open to all amateur photographers in the UK over 18 years and the judging panel includes top wildlife photographers Jasper Dalgliesh and Rob Appleby, photographer for the Berks, Bucks & OxonWildlife Trust (BBOWT).

We want to encourage people to take a look at the wildlife in their own ‘backyard’, said Jackie Osborne, publisher of Buzz Magazine and the competition organiser. “Everyone is concerned about the economy and the future right now. This is one way to remind us all that, important though these issues are, there is more to life, and the UK is an amazingly beautiful place to live”.

The three competition categories are; wildlife animal portraits or behaviour, urban wildlife/ in my backyard and Hidden Berkshire and Hampshire, landscapes.

The fabulous prizes include a ToughDrive Sport by Freecom (a durable, shock-resistant external hard drive, perfect for photographers who really put their gadgets through their paces), a voucher for top quality Aigle Benylsport wellington boots at Scats of Newbury and a voucher which can be redeemed against a creative workshops by specialists Frui and held at exciting UK venues including Kew Gardens. www.frui.co.uk/frui_courses.
