Newbury Nomads to perform ‘Footloose The Musical’

Newbury’s Nomad Musical Theatre have announced their autumn production after a very successful performance of ‘Our House’ last year.

The musical theatre group will perform ‘Footloose The Musical’ at the Corn Exchange Newbury, from Wednesday 19 September to Saturday 22 September. Performances will start at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee performance on Saturday.

The production is based on the 1984 movie, where a small US town bans music and anything fun to protect its teenagers. When Ren moves to the town the fight is on to bring dance back into their lives. Musical hits performed include Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For A Hero and Footloose by Kenny Loggins.

Director Jeanette Maskell said “With the release of the movie remake starring Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough late last year, and coinciding with the release of the stage musical, Footloose was an opportunity too good to miss for Nomads.  This show provides the perfect vehicle for the talented membership, both young and not so young.”

The registered charity holds one major production each year and a spring concert. They also host many fundraising and social events throughout the year.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at www.cornexchangenew.com or by calling the Box Office 01635 522733
