Sport in West Berkshire

If you think you need to travel to Reading to watch football or rugby, then you may be surprised to learn there’s local football and rugby action right here in West Berkshire!
Both Thatcham Town FC and Hungerford Town FC play football in the Zamaretto League – Division 1 South & West. Thatcham Town play at Waterside Park on Crookham Hill, with Hungerford Town playing at Bulpit Lane. Both teams are back in action from July with friendlies, with the new season kicking off in August. As well as Saturday games, both teams also play midweek evening games that you can catch after work.
Newbury Blues Rugby Football Club have had an unlucky couple of years due to budgetary constraints, and have finished this season at the bottom of the National Division Two South League. They play at Monks Lane in Newbury. Fortunately the team have a strong youth section which should help to strengthen their first team in the coming years.
If you have an interest in sport participation, there are a number of local clubs to get involved with including ladies football, lawn tennis, cricket and much more – right here in West Berkshire!
