It is December already! Where has 2020 gone? It all seems to have merged into one, but with it being Christmas it’s a time to be festive and celebrate! So, let’s get stuck into what we’ve been watching and what we think you’ll enjoy over arguably the best time of the year!
I know what you are thinking, 2008! Yes, but it is so good we love it and to see it on Netflix now if you have not seen it you must! It is one of Jim Carrey’s classics. A great feel-good film for all the family. The title tells you a lot about the film. You follow Carl Allen (Jim Carry) on his search for love. As he attempts to win the heart of Allison (Zooey Deschanel), this is all challenged once he discovers a somewhat secret underground cult. Advised by many people, including a stranger and work colleague to attend, he eventually agrees. The cult leads him down a strange path but one that becomes very beneficial (in certain situations) but also lands him in some sticky, tricky ones to say the least. With the central premise of only being able to say yes to anything asked well to let you figure it out for yourself as to what he gets up to. It is a great film with a central story premise that we have not seen before in a movie. It is inventive, and funny Jim Carry is the perfect fit for the role as it suits him to a T. Like most of his films it is one you can watch with all the family everybody is bound to enjoy it.
Okay, yes, we could not resist any longer It is December, so it’s an excuse to get all festive. Hey, we deserve it, right? After the year we have had. A bit of normality would be nice! So, we are kicking off the festivities with a new to Netflix Christmas movie. Jingle Jangle’s a Christmas Journey is a musical adventure following the story of a once brilliant and enthusiastic toymaker who was betrayed by his apprentice. The toymaker gave up hope until one day, his curious granddaughter visited him. Together they take on the task of creating a magical invention which if they are to make in time for Christmas could change theirs and the lives of many people around the world. The main plot of the film follows the two devising the plan to create their power, mix a new, innovative, exciting story with a touch of music and there you have it, a recipe for a fantastic Christmas film and that is exactly what this is.
We love it because it is something that we have been waiting for and we have needed after the year we’ve had.
What to watch out for:
Again, we are keeping it festive our top honourable mentions for Christmas films, so here we are.
Midnight at the Magnolia (2020) – This one is very cliché, but we love it just for that reason. Two young adults’ team-up. They both happen to be radio hosts and they help each other over the challenging Christmas period creating cheer and spreading happiness across the land. Only to find that working as a team on the radio is not enough as they want this feeling on a regular occurrence. I do not need to say much more. It is a great heart-warming movie, and you will see the perfect fairy-tale. It is worth keeping an eye out for through December.
