Town Hall Heritage Display & Online Quiz

Newbury Town Hall usually throws its doors open to the public as part of the Heritage Open Days festival, however current restrictions mean that unfortunately this is unable to take place this year.

Instead, a visual display of the history and heritage, that would normally be on exhibition, has been presented on the Town Hall notice board facing the Market Place. Information on display includes photographs of the Civic Staircase and the Mayor’s Parlour, detailed history of the Town Hall portraits, civic regalia and the heritage of the building dating back to the original municipal building in 1611.

An online quiz has also been created where you can test your knowledge and learn about the history of the Town Hall. This can be accessed by scanning the QR Code which is on the visual display on the notice board, scanning the QR Code below or by accessing the following link: https://forms.gle/x3XXXZZAMzoaEN2a7

Heritage Open Days is the largest heritage festival in the country and every single Heritage Open Days event is free, including access to many sites that usually charge for admission.  For details, events and virtual exhibitions, visit www.heritageopendays.org.uk .

The display and the online quiz will be available throughout the duration of the festival from Friday 11th September to Sunday 20th September.
