Get fit for free at Blossom’s Field, Wash Common!

Newbury Town Council has installed a range of outdoor gym equipment at Blossom’s Field in Wash Common which is available for anyone to use free of charge.

The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Margo Payne, will be officially opening the new gym equipment on Thursday 2 August at 10:30am so we would like to invite everyone to come and have a go!

Cllr Adrian Edwards, Leader of the Council, said, “This new gym equipment has been installed next to the children’s play area, so parents can keep fit whilst their children play. Keeping fit is important and we hope that this facility proves popular with local residents”.

The equipment supplied by Proludic and installed by Star Rubber is the latest innovation of gym equipment, with hydraulic pistons and top calibre features for a real gym-like feel.  The power resistant 8 position pistons can be easily adjusted to increase/decrease tension to suit your workout routine.  Clear and simple instructional videos are accessible via QR codes attached to the equipment, through your smart phone.

This installation, which cost £13,412 in total is part of a larger refurbishment, replacement and new equipment programme which will be funded from CIL monies (developer contributions).  It is hoped that further improvements to the Council’s play areas can continue next year and will ensure our play areas are maintained to a high standard as new and more challenging equipment becomes available.

The range consists of the following items, offering cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, balance, and coordination, strengthening and toning, progressive circuits and stretching:

  • Hydraulic High Pulley
  • Hydraulic Stepper
  • Abs Bench
  • Chin Up and Dip
  • Spinning Bicycle
