Upham Group has worked alongside Hampshire Fare for five years to support the local food group’s activity in the county. As strong supporters of local, the dynamic pub company recognises the value of the food group’s work.
Chris Phillips, CEO of Upham Pub Company commented: “Local ingredients, local employment and the local community are all key to our business. Working closely with Hampshire Fare has supported these elements of our business plan and we are delighted to be able to give back to the organisation and the other members through corporate sponsorship.”
Upham Group has expanded rapidly over the past five years and now has sixteen pubs predominantly across Hampshire which include The Hawk Inn in Amport, The Peat Spade in Longstock, The White Hart in Overton, The Running Horse in Littleton and The Thomas Lord in West Meon. Several of these locations have undergone recent refurbishment and expansion. The Thomas Lord now boasts luxury outdoor guest cabins whilst The Mill at Gordleton has developed its event space and new orangery to expand the dining room.
All Upham beers are brewed by the group’s experienced team at their Hampshire brewery. The recent focus has been the launch of a premium craft beer called UB5. David Butcher, Director at Upham Pub Company, commented: “The growth in new craft beers has been exceptional and we wanted to give our customers something brewed in Hampshire to rival the new trends in brewing. The new UB5 is brewed with 5 hops, 5 malts, is 5%, fermented for 5 weeks and served at 5 degrees. The beer divides the line between cask ale and lager and its strong combination of flavours is appealing to a new market of customers.”
The Mill at Gordleton will be celebrating the pub group’s links with local producers on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July as part of the Hampshire Food Festival. To round off this month-long festival, the pub will host a Summer Fair with an array of local food, drink and craft and their makers. Free to enter, 11am-4pm.
