Staff from local business embark on 35km sponsored walk to raise funds for SeeAbility’s local residential nursing home, Heather House
Three staff members from occupational health provider Trident Medical Services (TMS) will be taking part in a sponsored walk to help raise funds for Heather House – a residential nursing home for young adults in Tadley, run by the charity SeeAbility.
Organised by Just Walk, the challenge will take place on Saturday 12 May in the beautiful South Downs starting from Goodwood Racecourse.
Suzy Drewett and Alison Haynes will be taking on the challenge of walking 35km and Alan McLaughlin and his family will be walking the 10km walk.
It’s an early start for the 35Km, setting off at 8am with a good 6-7 hours ahead! The team’s aim is to enjoy the day and have fun whilst raising money for an incredible local charity.
TMS appointed SeeAbility as its charity of the year last September and set itself a target of raising £7,000 for Heather House.
Heather House supports 16 young people with life-limiting conditions, including a rare disease called juvenile Batten disease. It is the only residential service of its kind in the UK.
So far TMS has raised £4005.84.

Sarah Kenrick, Registered Manager at SeeAbility Heather House, says:
“Every day we face the ‘battle with Batten’ head on and hand-in-hand with the young adults we support and their remarkable families.
We are thrilled with the support from TMS as we really value the support of the local community and organisations.”
Fiona Penfold, Managing Director of TMS says: “Our staff have taken part in a number of fundraising activities over the last few months.
We are a small team and so everyone’s input is so important! SeeAbility does amazing work to support these young people and their families and give them quality of life, care and support.
We’re delighted to be able to support them through activities like this.”
Lindsay Heath, Communications and Marketing Manager at TMS, says:
“Our fundraising activities so far have included bake sales, a guess the baby photo competition, a raffle, dress down days, a charity tuck shop and a 50:50 club.
We also incentivise our staff to meet corporate objectives with TMS donating money every month for each objective hit.
And we incentivise our customers and service users by donating money for each feedback form received.”
