Berkshire Community Foundation awards £90,000 in grants to celebrate their 30th Birthday Year!
BCF are celebrating 30 years of giving in Berkshire by awarding two £30,000 and three further £10,000 grants to support vital projects in Berkshire.
Ufton Court awarded £30,000 towards raising aspirations and achievements through outdoor adventure – working with children from the Britwell area of Slough and Claycots School.
Adviza awarded £30,000 towards its Energise Innovation Project – which addresses the root causes of young people becoming NEET (not in education, training or employment). The project works with 14-15 year olds who are identified as having on average three to four risk-of-NEET indicators, including poor school attendance, disruptive or antisocial behaviour, family or mental health issues and low educational attainment.
“The impact Energise has made on the lives of vulnerable young people has been extraordinary and this funding model has allowed us to focus on activities that work and make a difference.” said Katharine Horler, CEO of Adviza
£30,000 awarded in grants of £10,000 each to three groups working with young people across Berkshire:
Berkshire Youth, which aims to help inspire and empower 8 to 18 year olds by supporting clubs and projects to deliver the best service and give them the best possible start in life.
Get Berkshire Active, towards working with schools, school sports partnerships and disability groups supporting Berkshire School Games Festivals.
Citizenship Foundation, towards the Go-Givers Make a Difference Challenge, a child-led social action project that supports primary aged pupils in identifying, researching and addressing a cause that they democratically choose to do something about.
“We are delighted to award these significant grants to five amazing charities as part of our 30th Birthday celebrations. At Berkshire Community Foundation our core aims are to strengthen local communities and to tackle disadvantage across the County. By awarding these substantial grants we are investing in the long term future of young people in Berkshire and ensuring that children from every type of background are given good opportunities to develop life skills and experiences that will benefit their development into adulthood.” Jim Fyfe, Berkshire Community Foundation
